Shomrei Torah – the Wayne Conservative Congregation, located at 30 Hinchman Avenue, Wayne, NJ will host a community Sukkah Shabbat on Friday, October 14. The evening will begin at 6:30 pm with dinner in the Sukkah, followed by Shabbat services at 8:00 pm. Cost for the dinner is $20 per person (13 and older), $10 per child (4 through 12), free for children 3 and under, with a maximum cost of $50 per nuclear family. Non-members are welcome.
The festival of Sukkot (a/k/a Succot, Sukkoth, etc.), the "Feast of Booths" (or Tabernacles), is named for the huts (sukkah) that Moses and the Israelites lived in as they wandered the desert for 40 years after escaping slavery in Egypt. Shomrei Torah’s Sukkah is the center of activity during the holiday period.
