FREE Community Scarecrow Contest

Wayne Presbyterian Church invites the public to participate in a FREE Community Scarecrow Decorating Contest!  The contest, part of their 50th Anniversary Celebration, will take place during the Community Harvest Festival at the church grounds on Sept. 29th from 10 am to 2 pm.

Prizes will be awarded for most original, silliest and traditional scarecrows in three categories: “Business/Organization”, “Family/Friends” and “Last Minute Scarecrows”.

“Business/Organization” The church would especially like to see local businesses and organizations participate and have set up a special category of “Business/Organization” for those entries.  They hope that local “mom & pop” type stores and organizations will think of creative ways to decorate scarecrows to reflect what they do.  (Restaurants, Stores, Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops, School Classrooms, Fraternities/Sororities, Youth Groups, Service Clubs, Religious Groups, Hospital Departments, Animal Shelters, Boys & Girls Club, PAL, Fire Houses, Police Department, Doctors Offices or any other organizations can participate!) Scarecrows should be made ahead of time and dropped off on Sat., Sept 29th between 10 am and 1:30pm.

“Last Minute Scarecrows” is a category designed for those who don’t have time to make a scarecrow on their own, or who find out about the event at the last minute.  For this last group, people can use basic supplies that will be available at the event while supplies last.
