On July 4, 1976, the day of America’s bicentennial, Israeli commandos staged a daring 90-minute nighttime raid on the airport in Entebbe, Uganda, rescuing 102 Jewish hostages from an Air France plane hijacked by Palestinian and German terrorists.
On Sunday afternoon, March 18, at 2:00 o’clock Temple Emanuel will present a 90-minute program of audio and video documentaries of the dramatic rescue. The recordings include a stirring narration by WFDU’s Norm Laster and an extended excerpt from a speech at the United Nations delivered on July 7, 1976, by Israel’s ambassador Chaim Herzog defending Israel’s right to rescue the hostages. The program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
