JUDAISM 101

Do you feel like you don’t know much about your own Jewish religion?  Are you marrying someone who is Jewish and want to know more about your future spouse’s religion?  Have you been thinking about converting to Judaism?  Do you have a child beginning religious training, but feel you need the training as well?  Or are you just curious about Judaism?  Then this introduction to Judaism class is for you!

On Monday evenings beginning October 31 from 7 to 9:30 pm, Rabbi Randall Mark of Shomrei Torah will take his class on a 24 session Introduction to Judaism through this joint project of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and the Rabbinical Assembly, New Jersey Region.  Classes will take place at 30 Hinchman Avenue in Wayne. 

Topics covered include holidays, Jewish history, Jewish philosophy, Jewish perspectives on God, beginner prayerbook Hebrew, the land of Israel and ancient Judaism, dimensions of Jewish identity, Judaism and Christianity: a comparative look, birth, covenant, Jewish parenting from infancy through adolescence, Jewish dietary laws, four streams of contemporary Judaism, contemporary moral issues: Jewish perspective on bioethics, and much more.

Tuition is $500 for an individual or $550 for a couple.  Students must also be prepared to purchase several books for the course.
