Ex-Giant Named Defensive Coordinator at WPU

Shaun Williams played nine years in the NFL, including for the Giants in Super Bowl XXXV.

Former NFL player Shaun Williams has been elevated to the position of full-time defensive coordinator of the William Paterson University football team.

Williams played nine years in the NFL and played for the N.Y. Giants in Super Bowl XXXV. He had 347 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 15 interceptions and three forced fumbles in his career.

“I’m looking forward to helping to bring a new level of success to William Paterson football,” Williams said in a statement.

This past season, William Paterson ranked 29th nationally in pass defense (163.6 yards/game) and a pair of Pioneers earned spots on the All-New Jersey Athletic Conference’s Defensive Team.

“The knowledge and the experience that he brings to the position, especially from his time in the NFL, will greatly benefit our program moving forward,” said Jerry Flora, fifth-year head coach.

Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in history from UCLA in 2011.
