Ex-Wayne Hills QB Looking To Transfer From Rutgers
Brendan DeVara 'reopens' recruitment. He and K.J. Gray were dismissed from the team reportedly for violating team rules.

WAYNE, NJ — Former star Wayne Hills quarterback and now ex-Rutgers player Brendan DeVara is free to sign to play football at another school, according to a letter from Rutgers.
DeVara announced on Twitter Wednesday that he reopened his recruitment following his dismissal from the Scarlet Knights football team.
In its letter Tuesday, Rutgers gave permission for all institutions, except Big Ten Conference schools, Texas State University, and the universities of Kansas and Buffalo to contact DeVara. Rutgers belongs to the Big Ten Conference.

DeVara thanked Rutgers for his time at the university and giving him the chance "to player power five football in the Big Ten [Conference]." He also thanked his coaches and was thankful of the friendships he made during his "short time at Rutgers."
The Rutgers University Police Department is conducting a probe into Rutgers football players for possible fraudulent use of credit cards, NJ.com reported, citing people with knowledge of the situation. The probe could involve as many as eight players, according to the report.

DeVara, a sophomore, and junior Gray were dismissed from Rutgers for allegedly violating team rules, NJ.com previously reported.
DeVara played linebacker and special teams for the Scarlet Knights his freshman season. He appeared in 11 games, playing mostly on special teams. He had one tackle and assisted on another in 2017 his sophomore year.
DeVara was a star two-way player for Wayne Hills, appearing at quarterback and linebacker his senior season. He helped the Patriots win an NJSIAA North Jersey 1 Group 4 title. He was named first team all-state, first team All-Group 4 by The Star-Ledger, and first-team All-Metro by MSG Varsity.
