Family Science Competition Blasts Off!
Local families compete in a friendly science STEAM competition
On March 10, 2018 a family science / STEAM event took place at the Wayne PAL aimed towards engaging youth in science and technology and creating fun and creative challenges for kids. One parent and one child worked together as a team to compete against other parent/child teams at various STEM challenges. Some challenges included egg drop challenge, mystery architect, bucket towers, lego memory challenge, and paper rockets. There were over 25 teams registered AS WELL AS 6 companies in attendance. The companies came to promote their science / art summer camps and after school activities. Mad Science did an interactive science show and the best part....over 20 companies DONATED prizes for the winners. There was a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner for each of the 3 age categories. There were great prizes like, tickets to Rockin Jump, iPlay America, Monster Golf, Liberty Science Center, Absolute Zero, Stem Boxes, Books, science toys and so much more. ALEX toys donated a wizard and magic science kit for every single participant whether they won or not. The turnout was beyond expectations and parents could not stop talking about the great bonding experience they had WITHOUT electronics or video games!
" We had a great time and have been talking about it since. Elisa did a great job of organizing it and it really ran so smoothly."
"A family day out WHILE learning and using creativity and imagination....Perfect for getting out of the house after being snowed in! We LOVE it"
