WAYNE, NJ — Independence Day is here, and there are several Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on in Wayne and around Passaic County to celebrate America's independence.

Patch gathered up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in the area around July 4, which is Tuesday. This includes fireworks in Wayne Township, the new Avenue of Flags and family festival in Passaic City, and the annual street fair in Little Falls.

Of note: there are possible severe storms and an increasing chance of active weather on July 4 in the state.

As of 12:30 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service shows a 40 percent chance of storms in Wayne on both days; thunderstorms are possible after 11 a.m. on Tuesday, but the chance decreases into the evening hours.

Wayne PAL Fireworks

  • Wednesday, July 5 with gates opening at 6 p.m., at Wayne Hills High School (272 Berdan Ave). Fireworks start at approximately 9:15 p.m.
  • The event includes inflatable rides (tickets available for purchase), and concessions provided by Johnny Zeppoli. Admission is $10 per family and supports the Wayne Police Athletic League.
  • Presented by the Wayne PAL. Rain date is July 6.

4th of July Street Fair in Little Falls

  • Tuesday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Main Street and Stevens Avenue in Little Falls. Admission is free.
  • The longstanding event promises food trucks, more than 50 vendors, live music by up-and-coming band With Skies, and a kids' area as well as "touch-a -truck." See food vendors and more information on the PBA Instagram page.
  • Presented by Little Falls PBA #346 and We're All Tied Up.

City of Passaic Family Festival and Fireworks, and Avenue of Flags

  • Fireworks are at 9 p.m. on July 4 at Pulaski Park (100 Fourth Street, Passaic).
    • The annual Family Festival with food, fun, games, and rides runs Friday, June 30 through Tuesday, July 4. Hours for the festival are Friday 6-10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 3-10 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday 3-9 p.m. with fireworks July 4.
  • Presented by the city. Fireworks rain date is Wednesday, July 5.
  • Mayor Hector C. Lora and the city also celebrated the new Avenue of Flags on Monday at Third Ward Memorial Park (350 Passaic Avenue). This new way to commemorate national holidays will see flags lining streets in the city throughout the year, the mayor envisions.

Food trucks will be available starting at 7 p.m., and the fireworks show will begin at dusk.

Parsippany-Troy Hills concert and fireworks display

  • When: July 4, concert at 7 p.m.
  • Where: Parsippany Hills High School, 309 Baldwin Rd, Parsippany, NJ

Randolph fireworks display and celebration

  • When: July 8 from 6-11 p.m. (fireworks at 9:45)
  • Where: County College of Morris, 214 Center Grove Road, Randolph

Washington’s Headquarters, Morristown National Historical Park

  • When: Various events from July 4-9, with an Independence Day celebration on July 4 with a “Warm-Up for the Declaration” at noon for younger audiences, followed by a public reading of the Declaration of Independence at 1 p.m. The Ford Mansion will be open for self-guided tours afterwards.
