Flooding Closes Multiple Wayne Roads Again: See Latest Info

Police alerted residents about road closures Friday, after the Passaic River entered flood stage and is expected to crest this evening.

WAYNE, NJ —Police alerted Wayne residents about road closures Friday, as the Passaic River has entered flood stage after the most recent rainstorm.

More than 2.5 inches of rain fell in some parts of Wayne as a storm moved through the region on Wednesday night and Thursday.

"The Passaic River entered flood stage this morning and will rise until it crests this evening," police said Friday. "This will result in street flooding. Some roads are already closed. Do not drive through road closures."

Wayne Police update all road closures on this traffic map; state routes and highway closures are managed by the state, and there are not any listed as of 9:15 a.m. Friday. A number of roads near the Pompton and Passaic Rivers are closed, including>

  • Hobson Avenue, Fayette Ave by the park, and Ryerson Ave from Walker Ave down to Sports Friends are closed due to flooding.
  • Meadow Rd west of Dorsa Ave, Spring Rd, Brookside Rd, Main Rd, River Rd, North Rd, West Rd, and N West Rd are all closed due to flooding.
  • Fairfield Road is closed at Barnsdale Road for due to flooding.
  • Hobson Avenue remains closed by Willowbrook Mall.
