Former NJ Officer Used Police Data To Stalk Victim: Officials

The 22-year-old is a former Palisades Interstate Parkway Police officer, said Passaic County officials.

PATERSON, NJ — Officials said former Palisades Interstate Parkway police officer stalked someone in Wayne Township, after using a police database to get personal information about them.

Members of the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office Public Integrity Unit arrested 22-year-old Amir Sikder on Thursday, Oct. 5 in Totowa, said Prosecutor Camelia Valdes' office.

Sikder is charged with one count of third-degree access and disclosure and one count of fourth-degree stalking, said Valdes in a joint news release with Wayne Police Chief Jack McNiff and Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Chief Steven Shallop.

Officials said Sikder, of Paterson, is accused of using a law enforcement database to unlawfully get information about the victim before using that information to commit the crime of stalking in Wayne. They did not say where or when the alleged event occurred.

"The investigation in this matter remains ongoing," officials said Friday. "At this time, further information will not be released so as not to jeopardize the safety of persons involved or to jeopardize the investigation in progress."

Wayne Police and the PCPO Public Integrity Unit lead the investigation, said officials.

Officials said Sikder has been released pending further court proceedings, and is scheduled for central judicial processing on Oct. 18.
