Former Wayne Hills Soccer Star Drafted By Women's Pro League

Nickolette Driesse won national championships with Florida State University and Penn State University.

WAYNE, N.J. — Nickolette Driesse, a former Wayne Hill high school soccer star, was drafted by the Orlando Pride of the National Women's Soccer League Jan. 13. She was selected with the 32nd pick.

Driesse won national championships with Florida State University and Penn State University. She was an All-ACC Freshman. She won a championship at Florida State and then transferred to Penn State and won a championship with the Nittany Lions in 2015. She was a co-captain her senior season and was named to the All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Tournament teams.

Driesse played for the 2014 Under 20 Women's World Cup team.

“If [Nickolette] can replicate her passing game from college into the pros, she’ll be a outstanding player," said head coach Tom Sermanni. “She’s got great vision, great passing range and is good with both feet. If we can [build] a team that gives her that time and space to do that, she’ll be very effective.”

Driesse posted on Twitter about being selected.
