Gov. Christie Reviews $5M Passaic County Bridge Repair Project

The $5M project repairs the bridge that spans the Passaic River from Totowa to Woodland Park.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — Gov. Chris Christie reviewed the progress of a $5 million repair of a 760-foot-long bridge on Interstate 80 that spans the Passaic River from Totowa to Woodland Park.

The project is funded by the state's Transportation Trust Fund. Christie met with the workers from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) project who are performing the work, which includes fixing cracks in the bridge and retrofitting connections to its steel girders. The governor also briefly spoke after meeting with the workers.

The work will reduce the load on the bridge and will maintain and prevent future fatigue and stress to the structure while increasing safety for the 130,000 vehicles that cross the bridge everyday.
