Home, Baby Items Destroyed As Wayne Couple Prepares For First Child: How To Help
People donated more than $24,000 in less than 24 hours to help the Dortch family, who lost their home in a fire a week before the due date.
WAYNE, NJ — The Wayne community is rallying around a young family who lost their home and many of the items they had bought for a new baby boy who is due soon.
Friends of Daniella and Matt Dortch began a GoFundMe on Tuesday, raising money for their housing and to help them replace the lost items for their child.
A recent house fire has made their home unlivable, and damaged the baby's stroller and car seat according to the fundraiser page. It also damaged Daniella's hospital bag, and clothes for the baby. They are expecting their new arrival next week, friends said.

"As you can imagine, they are under tremendous amounts of stress during a time when Daniella should be her most relaxed," wrote friends Rachel, Taylor and Lauren.

Their friends said that Daniella and Matt will receive insurance money eventually, but that process could take months and the child is due soon.
"We will be working to get Daniella and Matt the essentials for their first few weeks to months with their baby boy," friends wrote. "Anything helps and is so appreciated!"
