How Much Is COVID Spreading In Passaic County With Delta Emerging
Passaic County still has a substantial level of community COVID transmission, according to the CDC.
PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — The delta variant continues to be the prevailing strain of COVID-19 in New Jersey, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that the county still has a "substantial" level of community transmission.
The CDC reports that Passaic County has seen an 11 percent uptick in cases, as of Wednesday, with the state Department of Health reporting 67,509 total cases on Friday.
Seventy cases were reported on Tuesday, 83 on Wednesday, 66 on Thursday and 88 on Friday, state data shows.

Wayne Township only recorded 13 cases of COVID in June, but Mayor Christopher Vergano reports that cases have been on a sharp incline since.
The township recorded 138 positive cases in July, more than 10 times the amount reported in June, and at an average of over four per day. And the spike has continued in August thus far, as the per-day positive case totals were higher than the same period in July, Vergano said.

As cases have grown, township officials have put forth a vaccination mandate for municipal employees, who have until Sept. 17 to get vaccinated against COVID.
