Junior Police Academy Applications Available

The 2013 Wayne Junior Police Academy will be held June 27 and 28 and July 1 and 2 at Wayne Valley High School.

The Wayne Police Department’s Community Policing Unit runs the annual camp. It is designed for children 10 to 12 years old to learn what it means to be a police officer. Attendees will be taught through a police academy format.

The weeklong curriculum will include presentations from various law enforcement agencies and physical training.

Applications are available online. (An application, including a medical waiver, has been attached to this article.)

Applications will be accepted starting April 22 at 7:30 a.m. at the Police Department’s Records Bureau.

There is a $40 fee to attend the camp. Each recruit will be given a uniform.

Enrollment is restricted to 80 recruits. Applicants must be Wayne residents. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Checks should be made payable to: Wayne Community Policing Unit.

Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by mail the week of May 20.
