Library Launches Mobile Application

Residents can search library catalog, download eBooks, and save time checking out books and magazines.

A new mobile application has been created so residents can utilize the Wayne library’s resources from anywhere.

The app allows users to search the library catalog, renew an already borrowed book, download eBooks, or check books and magazines out from anywhere in the library, eliminating the need to wait in line.

“Everyone lives on their mobile phones these days, so it’s important for the library to be easily accessible and wherever people need access to our staff and rich resources,” said Jody Treadway, library director. “Our mobile app puts library information just one click away with much faster access than going through a browser.”

Users can scan or input a book or magazine’s ISBN barcode and see whether it is available in the library. It may be placed on hold and the user can pick it up later.

“This is an amazing feature,” said Karen Sharp, senior librarian.

The app features a listing of the calendar of events. Users can also access the library’s Twitter feed. The features work both at the main and the Preakness branches.

The application is available for all iOS and Android-enabled devices.
