On Wednesday, around 5 p.m., police were called to the area of Butler and Sparrow streets on reports of a shooting. While driving to the site of the shooting, officers learned that a 27-year-old gunshot victim had been taken to a nearby hospital by a private vehicle, prosecutors said. The man, who had been shot once in the chest, was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to authorities. Officials have not announced any arrests or suspects as of Thursday morning. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office tipline at 1-877-370-PCPO or tips@passaiccountynj.org, or the Paterson Police Shooting Investigation Unit at 973-321-1342.
