A robbery suspect pointed a handgun at a 12-year-old girl while she was walking to school in Paterson Monday, police said.
The man demanded the girl's cell phone, but she ran away without giving it to him, The Record reported.
The incident reportedly happened at 8:27 a.m. near the corner of Chestnut and Cedar streets, the report said. The girl went home and told a parent what happened, who contacted police.

The man was described as a Hispanic man between 40 and 50 years old, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and weighed about 140 pounds, the report said.
