Man Climbed Through Window, Sexually Assaulted Child In Passaic Co.: Prosecutor
The Belleville man confined the victim in their bedroom and strangled them, according to authorities.
CLIFTON, NJ — A Belleville man climbed through a Clifton child's bedroom window and sexually assaulted them, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office. Authorities detained Andres Vasquez on Friday following charges that included aggravated sexual assault and kidnapping.
Clifton police went to the home Tuesday, collecting evidence and interviewing the victim and witnesses, according to authorities. An investigation revealed that Vasquez climbed through the window, confined the victim in the room and strangled them during the sexual abuse, according to the prosecutor's office.
Vasquez, 24, was charged with aggravated sexual assault (first-degree), kidnapping (first-degree), sexual assault (second-degree), burglary (second-degree), endangering the welfare of a child (third-degree), aggravated criminal sexual contact (third-degree), criminal restraint (third-degree) criminal sexual contact (fourth-degree).

The state filed a motion to keep Vasquez detained in the Passaic County Jail, which a Superior Court judge will hear on a date to be determined.
