Man Who Shot Woman In Broad Daylight Nabbed By Wayne Cops: Officials

A months-long investigation led police to the suspect in Wayne, officials said.

WAYNE, NJ — A Passaic County man who shot a woman months ago was arrested this week by Wayne police officers, according to prosecutors.

Naason Wimbush, 38, of Paterson, was arrested in connection with a shooting in his hometown from more than three months ago.

On Nov. 15, 2025, around 11 a.m., Paterson police were called to the area of Piercy Street and Presidential Boulevard on reports of a shooting.

Authorities found a 36-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to a hospital and treated for non-fatal injuries.

Police were able to set up a crime scene in the area of the shooting, and an investigation led authorities to believe that Wimbush was the gunman responsible, officials said.

On Monday, Wimbush was arrested near Route 46 East and Park Lane in Wayne by local police.

Wimbush is charged with attempted Murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, certain Person Not to possess a weapon, and criminal mischief.

The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing, police said.

Wimbush was ordered to pre-trial detention while he awaits court proceedings. If convicted, he faces more than 40 years in prison.
