Mayor: America Is A Beacon Of Hope Because Of Veterans
'You, our soldiers, have been and continue to be, the greatest force for freedom and human rights ever gathered,' Chris Vergano states.

To the editor:
On Friday, tens of thousands of Americans who have served in the armed forces, will be celebrated in Veterans Day ceremonies and parades all over our country. For many families, these events are extremely personal and often bittersweet. For all of us, this is a day to show our appreciation.
Adlai E. Stevenson said, “Patriotism is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion, but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime.” I believe that our country is what it is today because of the freedoms and visionary ideals established by our Founding Fathers. It is those who serve, day in and day out, that ensure the continuation of our values and civilization. Veterans fight not only on the front line but also on the home front to keep America strong. For all your hardship, sacrifice and most of all service, I sincerely thank you.

You serve and fight for the greatest nation in the history of civilization. There has never been a grievous wrong that our service men and women have not sought to rectify. You, our soldiers, have been and continue to be, the greatest force for freedom and human rights ever gathered. You have raised our flag around the world to bring greater liberty and a better way of life. You are the reason America remains a beacon of hope to the entire world.
So thank you for the service that you have given to our country and for the service that you continue to provide. I cannot emphasize how brave a person must be to put them self in harm’s way or dedicate one’s life to protect people they have never met. I am not only proud, but also honored to live in a country where this type of courage exists. Thank you for defending and upholding this nation’s ideals.

Our Veterans seek neither glory, nor fame. They are our best, our brightest, our bravest. Please always know that we appreciate you. We thank you. And we will never forget you.
God bless America.
