Mom Creates Socks That are a Snap to Take Care Of
Terriann LoVerde, breast cancer survivor, wants product to save mothers time and money.

Terriann LoVerde understands the value of a minute.
LoVerde, a breast cancer survivor, has created a new kind of sock designed to give mothers more time to concentrate on their family.
“Every minute counts,” LoVerde said. “Anything that can free up mothers to spend more time with their families I’m all in favor of.”

LoVerde, a mother of three children, has created socks called PAIR-A-KEETS. She launched the products earlier this year.
The socks are double-layered at the cuffs with a snap inside each one. Before they are placed in the washer or when they are put away, the socks can be snapped together, cutting down on the number of socks a family can lose. The snaps are concealed by the cuff.

“I was sitting around taking care of the laundry and thought to myself: ‘If I lose one more sock I’m going to scream’,” LoVerde said. “I said: ‘There has to be a better way to make it so these socks don’t keep disappearing.’”
The product gets its name from the kind of bird, which mate for life.
“The whole idea behind these is to make life easier for mothers and to get people to save money too,” LoVerde said. “We’ve got so much to do and in this economy people can't afford to throw money away on something like socks.”
LoVerde has a background in fashion. She was a purchaser for several catalog-based fashion companies before becoming an interior designer.
She said her fashion background and design experience fueled her inspiration to create the socks.
“It’s the same work really,” LoVerde said. “Both professions involve developing a product and great deal of creativity.”
The socks come in all sizes for men, women, and children. LoVerde launched a Web site for the socks last month.
Certain boys and girls socks have gender-specific prints on them, like basketballs and kittens.
There are socks with characters on them that, when snapped together, hold hands. They are meant to stress friendship and kindness. The characters are a part of The PAIR-A-KEETS Club. LoVerde would like to create line of books and possibly other products with the characters in them.
“If the socks can be used as a jumping off point to teach kids about kindness generosity, that’s the greatest gift of all,” LoVerde said.
