More Flooding Possible In Wayne As Storm Continues
Several Wayne roads closed overnight because of flooding, and there's more rain to come.
WAYNE, NJ — Several Wayne roads closed overnight because of flooding, and there's more rain to come. The township received 3.65 inches of rain as of 9 a.m. Tuesday, and precipitation will continue to fall throughout the day, according to officials.
Wayne's traffic advisory map shows only one active closure as of 10 a.m. Tuesday — Colfax Road from the Hamburg Turnpike to Lionshead Boulevard.
A flash flood warning will expire at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, as the National Weather Service anticipated 1 or 2 inches of rain in the morning. The most impacted areas include small streams and creeks, urban areas and poor-drainage and low-lying areas.

A flash flood watch will continue until 6 p.m. Tuesday, with rainfall of 2 to 5 inches possible in the region.
Most flood deaths occur in vehicles, according to the National Weather Service. If you encounter flooded roads, turn around.

Here's the forecast from the National Weather Service, as of 10 a.m. Tuesday:
- Tuesday: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then rain likely between 1pm and 2pm, then rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. High near 62. East wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
- Tuesday night: Rain, mainly before 2am. Low around 52. North wind 13 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Wednesday: Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 61. North wind 13 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
