With More Rain, Flood Warning In Effect For Passaic County

The flood warning has been issued for three counties, specifically those near the Passaic River at Pine Brook.

Tropical Storm Ida brought rivers to flood levels, and the Passaic River hasn't yet receded back to normal height. With extra rain this week, minor flooding is possible.

WAYNE, NJ — More rain comes as an unwelcome reality to folks across the state, particularly those in North Jersey impacted by flooding from Tropical Storm Ida.

As the American Red Cross has distributed cleanup kits, and residents in Passaic County are beginning to apply for Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster relief, the National Weather Service has issued another flood warning for the county.

The warning — which is also in effect for Morris and Essex Counties — has been extended for the Passaic River at the Pine Brook observation site, which has yet to see river levels seek below the flood stage.

Flood stage for the river is 19-feet, and was observed at 19.9-feet at 12:15 a.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service said. Minor flooding is occurring, and more is forecast for the area.

As a result, Two Bridges Road is closed going into both Fairfield and Wayne Township, the NWS said.
