The original plan released by township engineers had a longer timeline, with paving and milling not scheduled until Aug. 25 or later.
WAYNE, NJ — Road resurfacing work along the entire length of Nellis Drive should be complete by the end of next week barring any weather delays, said Wayne Township officials.
Inlet reconstruction and concrete work began on Thursday, Aug. 10 and is scheduled through Friday, Aug. 18. Then, milling and paving work are scheduled from Monday, Aug. 21 through Wednesday, Aug. 23.
Nellis runs between Alps Road and Valley Road. The road will be closed to traffic during the milling and paving operations, until about 6 p.m., according to the township engineering office. The schedule depends on the weather, and is barring any equipment breakdowns.

The funds came from New Jersey's Municipal Aid grant program, which allocated $440,700 for resurfacing Nellis Drive.
Under the state Municipal Aid grant program, each county is apportioned a share of the total funding based on population and the number of local centerline miles. Municipalities compete for portions of their county's share. The New Jersey Department of Transportation provides 75 percent of the grant amount when a town awards a contract and the remaining 25 percent upon completion of the project.
