New Child-Development Center At William Paterson U.: Enrollment Open

The facility will serve children ages 2.5 through kindergarten when it opens this fall.

WAYNE, NJ — A new childcare option will soon become available in Wayne, and it's taking applications for the fall. William Paterson University’s brand-new Child Development Center will serve children ages 2.5 through kindergarten.

The facility is set to kick off its inaugural school year Sept. 6 in the university's most-recently purchased and refurbished building, at 1800 Valley Rd. The center will provide care from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and extended/wraparound care beginning at 7:45 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m.

"We are thrilled to open our doors to children from the surrounding communities, as well as to the children of our faculty, staff, students, and alumni," says College of Education Dean Amy Ginsberg. "Our team of veteran educators have tapped their decades of experience to create the highest-caliber program of early childhood learning and care."

Current undergrads and grad students in the College of Education, who are pursuing certification preschool-third grade teachers, will be able to supplement their learning with applied experience at the Child Development Center, Ginsberg says.

The center's teachers — most of whom have graduated from WPU's College of Education — have previously worked in public school districts, are New Jersey State-certified and have at least a bachelor’s degree in education. Most hold master's degrees.
