New Principal Appointed At Wayne Elementary School

WAYNE, NJ — The Wayne Township Board of Education has appointed Mina Kelaid as the new principal of Packanack Elementary School.

Kelaid is entering his 15th year in education. He began his career as a biology and special education teacher in the Parsippany-Troy Hills School District, where he also coached football and track and field.

He later served as supervisor of science, engineering, design and technology in Roxbury Public Schools. For the past four years, Kelaid has worked as a high school assistant principal in Parsippany, overseeing specialized programs, special education, mathematics and guidance.

Kelaid earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Montclair State University and completed graduate studies in special education at Kean University. He also holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Montclair State.

According to the district, Kelaid looks forward to collaborating with the Packanack school community and fostering an inclusive environment where all students can learn, feel safe and develop a sense of belonging.

Outside of work, Kelaid enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children, ages 5, 3 and 4 months.
