New School Report Cards To Be Discussed At Board Of Ed. Meeting Thursday
A presentation on changes to the district's elementary school report cards will be given.

A simplified indicator scale and changes to what students receive letter grades are some of the adjustments to the district’s elementary school report cards.
Donna Reichman, district director of elementary education, will give a presentation on the changes at the Wayne Board of Education’s meeting Thursday.
Fourth- and fifth-graders will receive letter grades in all subjects and third-graders will receive letter grades in math, science, and social studies. A simplified indicator scale of key progress indicators will also be on the new report cards.

A report card committee met in the spring to review feedback and input submitted by teachers and community members. Their suggestions included simplifying the performance indicators and using parent-friendly language, reinstituting a letter-grading system.
The committee also recommended using use the same assessment method for all nine elementary school subjects and place more value on homework in the elementary schools.

The meeting will be held at the Wayne Municipal Complex in the council chambers beginning at 7:30 p.m. Meetings are broadcast on cable channel 77 and online.
