New ShopRite Prepares For Major Presence In Wayne (PICS)

WAYNE, NJ — Even with about 100 people attending Friday's ribbon-cutting ceremony, the new ShopRite at Wayne Hills looked plenty spacious. At 80,000 square feet, the new store (30 Wayne Hills Mall) will become Inserra Supermarkets's biggest yet.

It might not feel as spacious when the supermarket opens at 7 a.m. Sunday, with the new store getting plenty of local anticipation. But ownership believes it will serve the Wayne community like no grocery store ever has.

“This new store demonstrates our continued commitment to the community and family promise to offer incredible value, quality and service to our shoppers," said Lawrence Inserra, Jr., the CEO of Inserra Supermarkets, Inc. "We thank our customers for their commitment to us and patience as we prepared the new store.”

Walk inside the main entrance at the corner, and you'll see plenty of services around the produce, including the bakery, deli (with Black Bear and Thumann's products), an eating area and a dietician's nook. Nutrition services will include consultations, meal plans and personalized guidance on food shopping. The store also features 19 aisles of groceries, the Patsy's Butcher meat department and the seafood department.

The supermarket will replace the ShopRite of Wayne at 625 Hamburg Tpke., which will close its doors at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Inserra Supermarkets — headquartered in Mahwah — is a member of the Wakefern retailers' cooperative and does business with ShopRite and PriceRite. The company runs 23 ShopRites, with 18 in Passaic, Bergen and Hudson Counties.

ShopRite expects the new store to bring in 300 jobs.

The store will host several in-store sweepstakes as part of the grand-opening celebration. Prizes will include a Thanksgiving dinner for 10; holiday floral arrangements; holiday pies and cakes; a year's worth of Frito Lay, Coca-Cola and Wise products; and a smart TV.
