New Swim School Opening Its Doors In Wayne

Big Blue Swim School said enrollment is expected to open in early April for its new Wayne location.

WAYNE, NJ — Break out the floaties, because Wayne is set to get a new Big Blue Swim School location in late May at Plaza Square on Hamburg Turnpike.

The pool will be owned and operated by the Shree Group, a local multi-unit business ownership team led by Manan and Neel Shah.

Regional Manager Shereena Nucum and General Manager Yesenia Barias will oversee operations at the new Wayne pool and build community connections. Big Blue said the location will bring its swim classes to the community using a curriculum written by Olympian Tom Dolan and former American record holder Chris DeJong.

The company said lessons will be offered across four progressive levels: Baby Blue, Bright Blue, Bold Blue, and Big Blue. Lessons are 30 minutes for all levels except Big Blue, which is a 45-minute class for more advanced swimmers. Private lessons are also available upon request, according to the business.

Student enrollment is scheduled to open in early April, and families with children ages 3 months through 12 years can enroll, according to the company. Big Blue also said it plans a discount promotion for new families and students that includes a free first lesson.

“For families in Wayne and the surrounding communities, our goal is to create a welcoming environment where children can gain confidence in the water while parents feel supported throughout the process,” said Manan. “Our team has spent years in the community as early childhood education business owners working with families, and we’re excited to bring that same family-first mindset to swim education. The Big Blue structured curriculum and individualized instruction allow every child to progress at their own pace while giving parents clear insight into their child’s development.”

To mark the opening, Big Blue plans to host a Family Fun Day in Wayne on May 23. The event will include music from a live DJ, local business vendors, food trucks, and a chance for residents to tour the facility and meet instructors.

Big Blue said the swim school was founded around the idea that learning to swim is about more than safety and includes confidence and lifelong skills. The company said it focuses on a learn-at-your-own-pace curriculum and individualized instruction for children at every swim level.

“We truly understand the responsibility that comes with serving families,” said DeJong. “The Wayne team brings deep operational experience and a strong commitment to family-focused services that align perfectly with our mission. Their background in business ownership and childcare positions them well to create an environment where kids feel confident and supported as they learn to swim, and we’re excited to welcome them to the Big Blue community.”
