WAYNE, NJ — A new traffic pattern is in place for the intersection of the Paterson Hamburg Turnpike at Alps Road, including fresh traffic signals for the new "jughandle" interchanges in Wayne.

Passaic County has been working on reconstructing this intersection since last May, and announced the new traffic pattern on Friday. Wayne Township officials released some more information, as well.

New traffic signals have been constructed at the intersection of Hamburg Turnpike and the Preakness Shopping Center driveway, and at the intersection of Alps Road and Grandview Avenue. The new signal at Preakness Shopping Center will allow left turns from all approaches.

Left turns are now prohibited from westbound Hamburg Turnpike onto southbound Alps Road. The northern jughandle allows drivers to access Alps Road southbound by way of the Preakness Mall complex, and the southern jughandle provides access to Alps Road via Grandview Drive.

"A dedicated left turn lane will be provided for northbound Alps Road to westbound Hamburg Turnpike, with two through lanes continuing to Alps Road along the Preakness Mall," officials continued.
