NJ Congressional Candidate And NFL Star Husband Could Lose Home: Reports
The couple is behind on their mortgage for a house they purchased more than 20 years ago, reports say.
PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A Congressional candidate from Passaic County is at risk of losing her home to foreclosure, according to reports.
Tiffany Burress is seeking the Republican nomination for New Jersey’s 9th Congressional District. Burress, an attorney, is married to former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress. He caught the game-winning pass for the Giants during Super Bowl XLII in 2008.
Amid the attorney’s congressional run, however, the Burresses are facing the possibility of losing their $1.5 million home on Huntington Terrace in Totowa, the Jersey Vindicator reports.

The report says that the couple stopped paying the mortgage’s monthly installments and were given foreclosure notices in January 2025.
It’s not the first foreclosure notice they’ve received, as a TMZ report says that they almost lost their home in 2018. It added that Plaxico had previous financial issues after falling behind roughly $50,000 in tax payments, despite raking in $29 million during his NFL career.

Amid the foreclosure issues, Plaxico Burress sold his Super Bowl ring for $280,600 in 2025.
Tiffany Burress is looking to unseat Democrat Nellie Pou in her congressional run. How the reported financial strain will affect her campaign is yet to be seen.
"For too long, career politicians have ignored North Jersey; it’s time for a leader who actually understands the grind of working families," her campaign site reads.
The primary election is slated for June 2.
