NJ Man Killed, Teen Injured In I-287 Crash, Cops Say
The crash happened when a Honda, carrying a 13-year-old, stopped partially on the roadway's shoulder, police said.
PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A Passaic County man is dead following a crash in New York this week.
On Sunday, around 1:15 a.m., New York State Troopers were called to the northbound I-287 ramp leading to the Interstate 87 northbound/southbound split in the Village of Hillburn.
Authorities discovered that a 2010 Honda Odyssey was attempting to switch from Interstate 287 to Interstate 87 when it stopped on the center shoulder, over the white fog line, and partially within the travel lane, police said.

A 2015 Mini Cooper, headed in the same direction, slammed into the back of the Honda, authorities said.
The driver of the Mini Cooper, Guido R. De Castro, 64, of Hewitt, sustained serious injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital and underwent life-saving measures, but he was ultimately pronounced dead.

The people in the Honda, a 40-year-old Hackensack man and a 13-year-old, were hospitalized for minor injuries.
