NJ Man Stabbed 62-Year-Old In Head, Neck, Police Say

The man was charged with attempted murder in addition to several weapons charges.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A Passaic County man has been arrested for trying to kill a 62-year-old victim, authorities say.

Anthony C. Schwiederek, 29, of Clifton, faces several charges following a domestic incident last week, including first-degree attempted murder, police said.

On Friday, police were called to a home in Clifton on reports of a stabbing.

Authorities found a 62-year-old stabbing victim with “life-threatening” wounds to the head and neck area. The victim, whose identity is being withheld due to the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act, was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

An investigation led police to believe that Schwiederek is behind the stabbing. Details on the relationship between Schwiederek and the victim were not immediately available.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, Schwiederek was charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

If convicted of all charges, Schwiederek could spend more than 26 years in prison.
