PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A Passaic County man who shot at a pregnant woman has learned his fate in court, federal officials say.

Justin Pope, aka his rapper name “P-Dice,” 38, of Clifton, was sentenced to prison on Tuesday for charges related to the unsuccessful shooting of a pregnant woman, authorities said.

On July 12, 2023, police were called to reports of shots fired in a public parking lot in Clifton.

Investigators combed through security footage that showed Pope and a pregnant woman arguing in a car. The woman took Pope’s gun before waving it in his face, giving it back, and then slapping him in the face, the footage shows.

Moments later, the woman exits the car before Pope fires two close-range rounds at her. The rounds missed the woman, but one stray bullet entered a nearby quick-service restaurant, where it lodged in a menu display behind the counter. The restaurant was open and full of employees, officials added.

After a struggle, Pope literally kicked the pregnant woman out of the car and fled the scene.

The following day, the rapper posted a video of himself online shooting his gun in the air while in a residential neighborhood, taunting police, saying, “Can’t find me . . . Police. Y’all never gonna find me.”

Pope posted another video soon after of him driving a car, saying, “Can’t find me. F****** pigs. Police. Y’all never gonna find me.”

Police found Pope hours later getting on a bus in New York City that was headed out of state. Authorities said he was brandishing a gun at bus employees.

Authorities found a loaded 9mm handgun with a large capacity magazine on Pope during his arrest, often referred to as a “ghost gun.” These weapons are manufactured when a user orders several different parts online and assembles the gun themselves.

Ballistics evidence showed Pope’s ghost gun was the same weapon used to shoot at the pregnant woman a day earlier.

Pope was previously convicted of aggravated assault in New Jersey in connection with the shooting of a seven-year-old child.

As a result, he was charged with two counts of unlawfully possessing ammunition as a convicted felon. He pleaded guilty in June 2025.

On Tuesday, Pope was sentenced to 63 months in prison.

“The defendant’s brazen and violent conduct could have cost lives. Pope fired multiple shots at close range at a pregnant woman in a public parking lot and took to social media to taunt law enforcement as he continued to endanger the community,” said U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer. “This sentence holds him accountable not only for unlawfully possessing ammunition as a convicted felon, but for the potentially deadly harm of his actions.”
