North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad

High School Level Linguistic Competition at Columbia University

On January 29, the students involved in Mary Help of Christians Academy’s Linguistics program took a trip to Columbia University in New York City to participate in the North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad or NACLO. NACLO is a contest in which high-school students solve linguistic puzzles using logical skills to connect languages. The contest was 3 hours long and required the Mary Helpers to put their problem solving skills to the test. Afterwards, they celebrated, ate lunch, and headed back to Mary Help ready to compete next year.
