North Jersey Doctor Sentenced To 3 Years For Insurance Fraud Scheme

Albert Ades, 61, bilked the Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance companies out of $280,000, authorities said.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ – An Englewood doctor with offices in Cresskill and Little Falls was sentenced Monday to 37 months in prison for defrauding Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance companies out of $280,000, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.

Albert Ades, 61, admitted that between 2005 through 2014, he fraudulently submitted bills for office visits that never happened, Fishman said. He previously pleaded guilty in federal court to health care fraud before U.S. District Judge Esther Salas.

From 2005 to 2014, Ades admitting writing prescriptions, refills, and performed other tasks without ever seeing patients on the dates they were bills for, Fishman said. He also admitted altering patients’ medical charts by adding blood pressure and other vital readings, along with clinical notes to patients’ charts to make it appear they had visited Ades on the billed dates.

Ades admitted that, between 2009 and 2013, he netted $280,000 as a result of the scheme.

In addition to the prison term, Salas sentenced Ades to three years of supervised release and ordered him to forfeit $280,000, Fishman said.
