Work With Wayne Police As A Public Safety Dispatcher: How To Apply

Wayne Police are hiring full-time and part-time dispatchers, who handle 911 calls and monitor emergency crews.

WAYNE, NJ — Emergency dispatchers are needed in Wayne Township, to work with police and other first responders during emergencies, and take calls from members of the public who need assistance.

Wayne Police are hiring public safety telecommunicators, for both full- and part-time positions.

Public safety telecommunicators include 911 operators and fire dispatchers, who work in emergency communication centers.

The salary range is $17.75 per hour, according to the township's posting for the part-time position. A high school diploma or GED is required, and so are "strong moral character," "strong communication skills," and the ability to work on nights and weekends.

"911 & EMD (emergency medical dispatcher) certification is preferred, however, all applications will be accepted," police said in a Facebook post.
