Opening Ceremony Postponed Due To Forecast, But Passaic Co. Fair Still Open

WOODLAND PARK, NJ —A stormy forecast caused officials to push the opening ceremonies at the Passaic County Fair back to Friday evening, instead of Thursday.

The fair, with fireworks and plenty of entertainment scheduled, runs from Thursday-Sunday at Garrett Mountain Reservation. Showers and the chance of thunderstorms are in the forecast for Wayne until 11 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The opening ceremony will now be on Friday from 7:30 to 8 p.m., said county officials. The Larry Stevens Band is still playing as scheduled, according to a Facebook post from the band (see full schedule below).

Along with food, live music, a beer garden, and rides, the family-friendly event also features animal ambassadors, pony rides, a petting zoo, butterfly exhibits, touch-a-truck, and exhibitions from local 4-H students.

Entrance to the fair is free, and parking is $5 per car to benefit the Friends of Passaic County Parks, Inc.

A shuttle service is available for those who park at the Bank of New York, 385 Rifle Camp Road in Woodland Park.

  • Naughty Humphrey performs from 8-11 p.m.
  • Fireworks at approximately 9:30 p.m.
• Sunday, Aug. 13 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • School of Rock performs from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
  • Orquesta Swing Combo performs from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Craig Redmond and C-Dreams perform from 9-11 p.m.
