Pair Stole Bentley, Sped On Wrong Side Of Road, Crashed Vehicle In Wayne: Police

WAYNE, NJ — Two men stole and crashed a Bentley on Tuesday in Wayne, police said. Authorities say they found the vehicle overturned after calling off a chase for safety reasons.

Just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, the owner of a 2021 Bently Bentayga called police to report the vehicle had been stolen from Massola Drive. The caller was following them in another vehicle but lost sight of it when they turned onto Hamburg Turnpike.

The man driving the Bentley began speeding on the wrong side of the road, according to police. Lt. Joe Rooney ordered all officers to stop the pursuit for safety reasons.

Moments later, officers saw the stolen vehicle crash and roll over at Alps Road and Maple Avenue. Police converged in the area and began searching for the suspects, soon capturing Sincere Daniel-Jones and Unique Shakur Woodward, authorities said.

Daniel-Jones, 19, and Woodward, 21 — both of Irvington — were charged with theft, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and attempting to elude police. They were placed in Passaic County Jail.

Wayne police urged everyone to lock their vehicles, remove keys or other means of starting vehicles and not leave vehicles running unattended.
