Pedestrian Dies After NJ Transit Train Strike In Passaic Co. Wednesday
Officials said a man was hospitalized and later died, after being struck by a train on the Main-Bergen County Line on Wednesday morning.
PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A man has died after being hit by a New Jersey Transit-operated train near the Paterson Station on Wednesday morning, according to transit officials.
According to NJ Transit, Port Jervis Line train 52 was en route to Hoboken when the train hit an adult male pedestrian near the Fair Street Bridge, at approximately 8:02 a.m.
The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:12 p.m., according to senior public information officer Kyalo Mulumba with NJ Transit.

Officials have not identified the deceased man as of Wednesday afternoon.
The more than 250 passengers and crew on board were uninjured, Mulumba said. Transit police are leading the investigation.

Mail Line train service was temporarily suspended between Passaic and Hawthorne, but has since resumed.
The train departed Port Jervis, N.Y. at 6:03 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 8:26 a.m., NJ Transit said.
