Police Identify Man Killed In I-80 Wrong-Way Crash

The man was heading east in the westbound lanes when he crashed into a Honda Accord, police said.

The motorcyclist who was killed in a wrong-way crash on I-80 in Totowa early Sunday morning has been identified, State Police said.

Brian Bermudez, 24, of Woodland Park, died when state troopers tried stopping the black Suzuki motorcycle he was driving shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday, but he sped off, police said.

Bermedez crashed into a black Honda Accord and was subsequently run over by another vehicle, police said.

Police are still investigating the crash, said Sgt. First Class Gregory Williams, but preliminary findings show that the motorcycle was traveling east in the westbound lanes when the crash occurred.

The driver of the Honda suffered minor injuries, police said.
