Details, Arrest In Wrong-Way Fatal Accident: 1 Killed, 2 Injured On N.J. Highway
At least one person was killed, one was arrested for drunk driving and two were injured in a horrific wrong-way New Jersey highway crash.

At least one person was killed, one was arrested and two were injured in a horrific wrong-way New Jersey highway crash on Monday.
The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Clifton Police Department said they are investigating the fatal automobile collision that occurred at approximately 5 a.m. Monday on Route 46 westbound near the Garden State Parkway.
Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Clifton Police Chief Mark Centurione identified the victim as Mohamed Khawatmi, 28, of Clifton. Khawatmi died as a result of injuries sustained in a collision with a 2009 black Infinity.

The 2009 black Infinity operated by Louis Yanez, 32, of Clifton was believed to be traveling the wrong way while moving eastbound while in the westbound lane, according to authorities.
The alleged drunk driving resulted in a collision with a Honda CRV, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office.

The male driver of the Honda CRV was pronounced dead at the scene, and two additional occupants of that vehicle were admitted to St. Joseph’s Hospital. Identification of the deceased male will be made at a later date, police said.
Yanez is charged with one count of second-degree death-by-auto, two counts of third-degree assault-by-auto, and received motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated and reckless driving, according to the PCPO.
A crime of second-degree death-by-auto is punishable by a term of five years to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison, which is subject to the No Early Release Act, which requires 85 percent of the sentence being served before parole.
The third-degree assault-by-auto counts are punishable by a term of three to five years in New Jersey State Prison.
Bail has been set by the state Superior Court Judge Adam E. Jacobs at $250,000 with no 10 percent option. The investigation is ongoing and active.
