Preakness Healthcare Center Provides Coronavirus Testing Update

The Wayne healthcare center provided details into the latest testing numbers, and expanded on their testing procedures.

WAYNE, NJ — Seven Preakness Healthcare Center residents who had previously tested positive for the coronavirus have now tested negative, according to a news release from Preakness.

As of May 26, Preakness had statistics available for residents in the 3-400, 3-200, 1-400 and 2-300 units. In addition to the seven negative tests, one resident's results were "inconclusive" and another's returned a "presumptive positive" result.

The status of the other residents remained the same, according to the release.

Of the 192 staff members who were tested, seven tested positive, with two results pending. The tests were conducted on May 22.

Additional tests were done on residents of other units, and those results are still pending, according to the release.

Since March 25, 192 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. That total, according to the release, includes residents who have since tested negative twice, tested negative once and residents who have since died from the coronavirus.

Ninety-six total staff have tested positive, and 357 have tested negative.

The testing schedule at Preakness will feature daily testing moving forward. That schedule is as follows:

  • Monday — Units 1-300 and Pathway Behavioral Unit
  • Tuesday — Units 1-200 and 2-200
  • Wednesday — Unit 3-400 and staff
  • Thursday — Units 2-400, including respiratory, and 3-200
  • Friday — Units 1-400, 2-300 and staff
