Rabies Clinic, Pet Photos With Santa Coming To Wayne

WAYNE, NJ — Wayne pet parents, make sure you have these events on the calendar. In a weekend of events for the township's furriest residents, Wayne will hold a free rabies clinic and then let pets get photos with Santa.

Free Rabies Clinic For Cats and Dogs

Nov. 5, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wayne Township Municipal Garage (Dey Road)

The township requests attendees pre-register for the clinic, but it's not required. Officials ask that each attendee brings no more than two pets.

Dogs must be restrained on a non-retractable leash to allow for quick transfers to the veterinarian or technician for vaccination. Cats must get transported in suitable carriers or containers to prevent escape.

Proof of a 2022 license is required. Residents who failed to license their dogs/cats for 2022 may do so after Wayne's rabies clinic through the Citizen Self Service portal.

In order to go green, the Health Department won't mail dog/cat license renewals for the 2023 licensing year. Residents are asked to register their pet online via the Citizen Self Service Portal.

Pet Portraits with Santa

Nov. 6, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-5 p.m., Captain Michael Kilroy Memorial Park (6 Concord Pl.)

Santa Claus is coming to Wayne. Pets of all types are invited to sit for portraits with Santa, with photos from Patterson Photography Studio. Proceeds benefit the Wayne Animal Shelter.

Due to COVID restrictions, pet families may sit for a portrait without Santa. Appointments are required and can be scheduled online.

The sitting fee is $20, which includes a 5" x 7" portrait. Other photo packages are available.
