Rainy Forecast Cancels Passaic Co. 'Paws In The Park' This Weekend
Pups and owners hoping to head to the 7th annual Paws in the Park will have to wait until next year. Here's a look at the weekend forecast.
HAWTHORNE, NJ — A rainy forecast for Saturday caused organizers to call off the "Paws in the Park" event, which was slated to start at 10 a.m. at Goffle Brook Park in Hawthorne.
Forecasters are calling for a strong cold front to bring showers into the region on Friday, continuing into Saturday. The showers could be heavy at times and cause minor roadway flooding, said the National Weather Service. Cooler, drier conditions will begin Sunday.
Officials said they are working on a date to reschedule Paws in the Park, but said the field will be too saturated to do it safely on Sunday.

"We apologize for the inconvenience," the county wrote in a social media post Thursday afternoon, after announcing earlier this week that the event was still on "at this point."
The annual event, put on by the Passaic County Board of County Commissioners, Passaic County Sheriff’s Office and Passaic County Paws, Inc., supports the K-9 unit at the Sheriff's Office and also aims to find homes for adoptable animals. A pet costume contest, food trucks, and raffles were also on the docket.
