Remains Of Missing North Jersey Woman Possibly Found: Police

Police said Stephanie Bronaugh, 29, of Lafayette, was involved in a minor car crash off of Oak Ridge Road in West Milford July 1.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — Police are trying to identify the remains of a woman they are looking for after she went missing following a car crash July 1.

The remains of an adult woman were found Saturday in heavy brush near where that woman went missing, West Milford Police Detective Sgt. Joseph Walker said in a press release.

Clothes matching the description of the woman were found with the remains, Walker said. Formal identification is pending from the medical examiner's office, he said.

Several police departments, the Passaic County Sheriff's Department, and the New Jersey State Police investigated the missing persons case of Stephanie Bronaugh, 29, of Lafayette.

Bronaugh was involved in a minor car crash off of Oak Ridge Road in West Milford. Police found her car and found a cell phone and sneaker nearby. After a search using K-9s, police helicopters, and search and member units, Bronaugh was still missing.
