New Dollar Store a Dream Come True for Wayne Resident
Crystal Williams opened Wayne's newest dollar store on Hamburg Turnpike recently.

Crystal Williams is living her dream.
The 20-year Wayne resident owns the new dollar store on Hamburg Turnpike that opened last month.
“This is something that’s been in my head for the past 10 years and it’s something I’ve talked about doing for a long time,” Williams said. “My husband finally told me to put up or shut up.”

Williams has worked in retail for years. She was a manager at Costco in Hackensack for years and held other positions before that. She opened the Dollar Plus Store about a month ago.
“I’ve been preparing for this for a long time,” Williams said. “I know what I’m doing and I know how to keep a place neat.”

Williams’ has a simple philosophy when it comes to running the business.
“Clean, neat, and good customer service sells all day long,” Williams said. “Give people a clean place and treat them the way you’d want to be treated and they’ll come back to you all the time.”
Williams sells a large variety of items. The shelves are packed with traditional dollar-store fare: hangers, school supplies, and children’s toys. But, Williams said that being traditional is not what she is about.
“I want to have things that traditional dollar stores don’t,” Williams said.
There is a section with smartphone and iPad cases, kitchenware, toys, and a few name brand items as well. Mostly everything in the store costs $1, there are few items that are a little more expensive.
“I’m carrying the stuff that people want to either grab quickly when they’re out doing things and give people an alternative to paying a lot of other things,” Williams said. “We’ve been getting a lot of foot traffic. It’s been going well so far.”
The store is located in the Wedgewood Shopping Plaza on Hamburg Turnpike. It is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
