Scott Rumana Nominated For Passaic County Superior Court Judgeship, Report Says

Rumana has been an assemblyman since 2008. He was mayor of Wayne from 2002 to 2007.

WAYNE, N.J. — Assemblyman Scott T. Rumana has been nominated for a Passaic County Superior Court judgeship.

Christie notified Kent M. Hicks, the clerk of the state Senate, of the nomination via a letter, The Record reported. A copy of the letter, or confirmation of Hicks' office receiving it, could not be obtained.

Rumama, R-Wayne, has been an assemblyman since 2008; he has been Republican whip since 2012.

He was Wayne mayor from 2002 to 2007, a township council member from 1994 to 1997, and a county freeholder from 1997 to 2000.

He is an attorney with the law firm Hunziker, Jones, and Sweeney of Wayne.

Rumana represents the 40th Legislative District, which includes parts of Bergen, Essex, and Passaic counties, including Franklin Lakes, Ridgewood, Wyckoff, and Wayne.

If Rumana steps down before Sept. 15, a special election would be held in November to fill his unexpired term, The Record reported. The 40th Legislative District Republican Committee would name a candidate to replace him.
