Controversial Senior Center Expansion to be Heard
Application postponed to Monday because of a lack of board members earlier this month.

The Board of Adjustment is scheduled to hear testimony regarding the potential expansion of a senior care facility at a meeting Monday.
CareOne at Wayne is a rehabilitation and long-term residential facility for senior citizens on Black Oak Ridge Road.
The 29,000 square-foot facility could grow to 47,000 square feet and the number of beds could triple from 63 to 189 if the application is approved.

The board Aug. 6 but requested the matter be moved to Monday only a few hours before the Aug. 6 meeting occurred.
A dozen residents attended the meeting to speak out against the application. They angrily left the meeting once they heard the application would be postponed. They declined to comment after the meeting.

Some residents told the board they could not attend the meeting Monday and asked if they could send someone to represent them.
Board counsel Patrick Anderson said the residents must hire a lawyer to represent their interests at the next meeting if they are unable to attend.
